The Issues

Our goal is to raise a generation of children and youth that strive to achieve equity, justice, and equal opportunities for Afro-Atlantic individuals, throughout the diaspora.  The challenges faced by the Afro-Atlantic community in the United States and elsewhere are rooted in a history of systemic racism, discrimination, and social, economic, and political marginalization. Some of the key issues that we address include:

Racial Justice and Equality

• Eliminating racial discrimination and ensuring that all individuals have equal rights and opportunities regardless of their race.

Education

• Improving access to quality education and addressing the achievement gap to ensure that  Afro-Atlantic children have the same educational opportunities as their peers.

Employment and Economic Opportunities

• Addressing systemic barriers to employment and creating economic opportunities to reduce poverty and promote financial stability.

Criminal Justice Reform

• Addressing issues of racial profiling, mass incarceration, and unfair treatment within the criminal justice system.

Mental & Physical Healthcare

• Improving access to affordable and quality healthcare to reduce health disparities that disproportionately affect African Americans.

Housing

• Addressing housing discrimination and ensuring access to affordable and safe housing options.

Police-Community Relations

• Promoting trust and collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the Afro-Atlantic community through community policing and accountability measures.

Political Representation

• Encouraging African American representation in all levels of government to ensure that their voices are heard and their needs are addressed.

Community Investment

• Investing in disadvantaged neighborhoods and communities to improve infrastructure, social services, and economic development.

Cultural Awareness and Inclusion

• Promoting cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusion to foster a more understanding and accepting society.

Achieving these goals will require a multi-faceted approach that involves collaboration between government agencies, community organizations, businesses, and individuals. We have an ongoing commitment to address the root causes of systemic racism and discrimination.
